Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) today (November 26) welcomed a new investment by the Walt Disney Internet Group in the mobile market. The new business, "Disney Mobile", will provide content for mobile phones including screensavers, wallpaper, logos, e-cards and ring tones.

This is the first Walt Disney investment in the Hong Kong Internet market.

The Vice President and Managing Director of the Walt Disney Internet Group for Asia Pacific, Mr Birathon Kasemsri, said: "We believe that our potential customers are receptive to outstanding developments in mobile services and at the same time have a strong association with and appreciation of Disney's many wonderful characters and personalities."

Walt Disney Internet Group has partnered with CSL and Hutchison Telecommunications, two leading operators in the local mobile telecommunications market, to deliver mobile content.

The Director-General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, Mr Mike Rowse, said: "We welcome Disney's exciting new line of business. With 84 per cent mobile penetration in Hong Kong, there are enormous business opportunities for Internet content and services providers here."

Invest Hong Kong is the government department which spearheads the drive to attract foreign direct investment to the city.
